Our Store - Teatrick Lavender Estate
Teatrick Lavender Estate is a family-owned lavender farm located near Wolseley in South Australia’s Limestone Coast, where lavender has been lovingly grown and nurtured for over three decades.
Established in 1991 by Liz Ballinger, who lives on the family farm, Teatrick Lavender Estate began with a passion for growing plants suited to the local climate and landscape. Liz believes strongly in working with nature – selecting hardy varieties, saving seed on the farm, and growing plants naturally acclimatised to the Limestone Coast’s conditions. This local knowledge, combined with thoughtful companion planting and creative design, has shaped the estate into what it is today.
In 2000, a plant nursery was added, expanding the vision to include not only lavender products but also plants that bring beauty and resilience to home gardens. Today, the Nursery Shed offers a carefully curated selection of lavender standards, heart- and hoop-shaped rosemary, tubestock, indoor plants, and succulents, with freight available.
The Lavender Shoppe is a gentle place to explore handcrafted lavender products, fresh produce, and plants – all grown and made on the estate. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy relaxed Devonshire tea experiences for groups, available by appointment, in a peaceful rural setting.
Lavender from the estate is naturally calming and soothing, with benefits for the body, mind, and skin. Liz also shares her passion for lavender in culinary delights, allowing visitors to enjoy this versatile herb as a herbal treat in food and drinks. All plants are grown using environmentally responsible, pesticide-free practices, ensuring products are pure and safe.
Liz’s contribution to rural enterprise has been widely recognised, both locally and internationally. She was awarded SA Enterprising Woman of the Year in 1999, received a PIRSA bursary to attend the 3rd World Congress of Rural Women in Madrid, and in 2007 was selected as part of the South Australian Delegation to the 4th World Congress of Rural Women in Durban, South Africa. During this experience, Liz combined learning with hands-on volunteering at a women’s business centre in Inguwavuma, South Africa-deepening her commitment to supporting women in business, particularly within rural and regional communities.
She was later awarded an Australian Horticulture Scholarship to Europe and is a founding member and past Chair of the Women in Business and Regional Development Group. In 2020, Liz was inducted into the WIB&RD Hall of Fame and has also been a finalist in the SA Rural Women’s Awards. She continues to actively support and mentor rural and regional women in business.
